BT HAS apologised to broadband customers in Yell and Unst who were left without an internet connection for much of Tuesday.
A company spokesman said it had been made aware of a fault affecting broadband, and its engineers had restored the service by the mid afternoon. He added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience.”
Meanwhile, Shetland Telecom has apologised to a small number of its customers after they lost internet connectivity due to a problem unrelated to BT’s one. The blip affected Shetland Broadband customers and community broadband networks including Vidlin, Fetlar and West Burrafirth. A spokesman said: “The fault was outside our network. We are working with our partners to investigate the cause and ensure that there is no repeat.
