Nu Metro Cinemas will launch its fifth 4DX cinema in South Africa at Emperors Palace at the beginning of June 2017. The cinema will seat 84 people and will be open to the public from 9 June. Nu Metro’s 4DX cinemas aim to enhance the viewer experience through atmospheric effects such as motion, water spray, scent, and wind.
4DX cinemas are also located at the V&A Waterfront (Cape Town), The Pavilion (Durban), Hyde Park (Johannesburg), and Menlyn Park (Pretoria).
“We are incredibly excited about the launch of 4DX at Nu Metro Emperors Palace,” said Peermont Hotel and Resort Executive Dave Milne.
The 4DX cinema uses an upgraded Dolby CP750 with 7.1 surround sound, and the projector used in the cinema has an enhanced lamp for brighter picture in both 2D and 3D.
Nu Metro Cinemas has announced that Gauteng’s second 4DX cinema will open at Menlyn Park in Pretoria. The new cinema, which is the first 4DX cinema in Pretoria, will open its doors on 10 February. Nu Metro’s 4DX movie experience includes 3D visuals, Dolby 7.1 surround sound, and various physical effects – such as water, smells, moving seats, and lighting.
“We are very excited to introduce Pretoria to the phenomenon that is 4DX,” said Nu Metro Cinemas Managing Executive Nitesh Matai.
Premium pricing applies to 4DX movies and loyalty discounts are not applicable.
