Vodacom has continued its network growth, according to its results for the six months ended 30 September 2017. Over the last six months, Vodacom spent R3.9 billion on its network – which the company said was aimed at maintaining its network lead, and offering the widest coverage and fastest Internet. The company has also invested heavily in its IT systems, which enables it to provide personalised experiences for customers.
“This is critical to delivering our strategic ambition of becoming a leading digital company,” said Vodacom.
Through its network investment, Vodacom has achieved:
- 4G population coverage – 76.7%
- 3G population coverage – 99.3%
This is compared to 68.7% 4G coverage a year ago.
The network investment is paying off, according to the results, with data revenue growing 15.0% to R11.4 billion.
