President Jacob Zuma has been filmed falling asleep during Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan’s mid-term budget speech, which took place on 26 October. As reported by Times Live, Zuma nodded off and was filmed sleeping at 1 hour and 14 minutes into Gordhan’s speech. Economists and opposition political parties have called on Zuma to step down as leader of the country, due to the financial and social damage he is doing to South Africa.
