SEACOM extends fibre reach in the Western Cape
SEACOM has acquired Cape Town-based Internet service provider and managed services provider MacroLan. This will allow the company to extend the reach of its fibre network to more metropolitan areas across South Africa, it said. “MacroLan will become SEACOM’s Cape Town regional office and will lead its expansion in the Western Cape market for fibre Internet access to the business-customer premises,” said SEACOM.
MacroLan owns and manages fibre infrastructure and access at numerous commercial buildings, it said.
Byron Clatterbuck, CEO at SEACOM, said the MacroLan deal will grow the SEACOM’s staff and customers in the Western Cape, and follows the successful launch of SEACOM Business broadband services.
