The next Apple TV will support 4K HDR video, according to leaked firmware[1] for the Apple HomePod. As reported by Engadget[2], the firmware reveals 4K and HDR support for an upcoming Apple TV device. “The media player’s code mentions support for Dolby Vision, HDR10, and Hybrid Log-Gamma formats,” stated the report.

The current Apple TV[3] supports up to 1080p at 60fps.

The report follows Apple’s recent statement that Amazon will launch an app for its Prime Video service for tvOS on Apple TVs.
