Google image search gets badges to categorise results

Google is testing a feature that adds badges and labels to image search results, the company announced[1]. Icons indicating whether the linked item is a video, shopping result, or animated GIF will appear in the left corner of images on the results page. It provided an example where a user might search for cupcakes, returning a mixture of recipe and video results.

Tapping on an image that has the recipe badge brings up a list of ingredients without having to visit the website.

Images tagged as videos also include their duration next to the “play” icon.

Google said the new feature has started rolling out for the Google app for Android, and the mobile web.
