Vodacom deploys extra base stations for Durban July data traffic

Vodacom has deployed additional base stations and Wi-Fi hotspots around Greyville Racecourse to cater for higher data traffic during the 2017 Durban July. The company has deployed five Wi-Fi hotspots and 10 in-field base stations, providing 2G, 3G, and LTE. Two additional mobile base stations have been deployed within the Vodacom Red town area and within the racecourse.

Additionally, Wi-Fi hotspots will be deployed at all Vodacom charging stations and within the VIP areas.

Over the past year, Vodacom has invested R8.5 billion in network infrastructure across South Africa, further expanding its 2G, 3G, and 4G coverage.
