VTR sales up 7% to CLP 150 bln on broadband gains
Chilean cable operator VTR, part of Liberty Global’s Latin American and Caribbean group (LiLAC), reported revenues of CLP 150.2 billion in the first quarter, up 7.1 percent year on year thanks to record fixed line broadband additions of 27,000 over the three-month period as well as higher ARPU. The company’s mobile segment also increased by 50,000 subscribers over the previous 12 months, including 13,000 in the first quarter alone, to reach a total of 178,700. ARPU was up 1.9 percent year on year to CLP 33,676. VTR ended the quarter with a total coverage of over 3.3 million homes after adding over 50,000 accesses in the first three months of the year. Its pay-TV subscriber base also increased, by 27 percent year on year, to reach 1.05 million at the end of March, while total revenue generating units (RGUs) came to 2.82 million, up 25,400 year on year.
