New Delhi, May 14: After taking the telecom sector by storm by offering lucrative freebies, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has come up with its much-awaited Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband service in six cities. As per recent tweets by Jio Care, Jio’s customer grievances and request centre, the company has said that JioFiber Preview Offer has currently being launched in select areas of Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara. The tweet further added that Jio’s network is in the process of being rolled out to other cities.
The broadband services offered by Reliance Jio1 will also offer host of services to the consumers like it did for mobile data. In April, there was news that the company was testing its network in several locations across Mumbai. The broadband service is believed to deliver a minimum of 100Mbps for the home broadband consumers at affordable rates.
As per earlier reports by Teleanalysis, Jio’s Fiber to the Home (FTTH) broadband service8 commercial launch is believed to take place in June in 2017. During its its Q1 regulatory filing, Reliance Industries said that the company had already started the pilot programme and will soon is expanding to more cities. The high-speed optical fibre service too is believed to be launched with a number of services ike its data plans.
However, Jio has had no communication on the broadband launch date and price yet. The company is also believed to launch a number of services such as DTH, smart-TV boxes, IoT solutions; alongside its 1 GBps broadband. The Fiber Internet service will be coupled with other Jio services, including a set-top box, a report by Indian Express said. During its launch in September 2016, Mukesh Ambani had promised a dramatic improvement in its service quality as the company continues to invest in network expansion. He mentioned in one of his address that this greenfield investment of over Rs 200,000 crores is the largest anywhere in the world.
As per a regulatory filing by Reliance Industries Limited, Reliance Jio user base stood at 108.9 million on March 31.
