Irish broadband and telecoms business Magnet Networks is teaming up with Cisco to provide a supercharged wifi …
The company sees the event, featuring London-based football clubs Chelsea and Arsenal, as a chance to showcase its capabilities as it seeks to drive growth.
“We view it as a great showcase and a great case study for us as we look at other markets,” Magnet chief executive Mark Kellett told the Sunday Independent.
“The ambition for Magnet is not necessarily an Irish ambition, we’re becoming more and more an international business,” he added. The system will have separate broadband networks for broadcasters, fans, and retailers operating contactless payment networks. It’s designed to enable nearby retailers to market directly to Chelsea and Arsenal fans to try and attract them into their stores.
It can also monitor devices that are not connected to the network to help with security, crowd control, and accident prevention.
