Google launches “Smart Reply” for Gmail

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has unveiled “Smart Reply” for Gmail at Google’s annual developer conference. Smart Reply[1], available for Android and iOS, uses machine learning to suggest responses to emails. The service will scan an email and interpret its message.

It then suggests responses, which a user can select, or edit, and then send. Google said the feature works thanks to its neural networks, which are trained to analyse messages and convert them into numerical codes. The feature will first roll out in English.
