Deadline to complete broadband survey in Madison County is Tuesday

MADISON COUNTY, Va. (NEWSPLEX) — The deadline to complete a survey about broadband access in Madison County is Tuesday.

The Madison County Broadband Committee says about 1,000 households have completed the survey so far. They say broadband is fine in town and near the Route 29 corridor, but it is places out in the country that struggle the most. The committee says most people in the county rely on slow and outdated internet speeds, and doesn’t come close to other areas in Virginia.

“If Madison wants to have economic development get businesses here, and keep businesses here, keep people, they’ll need access to high speed internet,” said Ed Drew, with the Madison County Broadband Committee. “I actually struggle to work out of my home when I can because of the slowness of the service here.”

You have until Tuesday to complete the survey.

The committee hopes to present the results of the survey to the Madison County Board of Supervisors next month.
