Chrome beating Internet Explorer in business

While Microsoft has a strong relationship with enterprise clients, its Internet Explorer browser is losing out to Chrome. This is according to Gartner’s David Michael Smith, who is set to release new research on browser use in enterprises. Computerworld quoted Smith as saying[1] that “most enterprises still have a standard browser, and most of the time, that’s something from Microsoft.

These days it’s IE11″. “But we’ve found that people actually use Chrome more than IE,” said Smith. He said Internet Explorer still has a significant market share because of company requirements, and because some enterprise applications only work on IE as a plug-in.

Smith said Microsoft is aiming to take on Chrome with its Edge browser, but its lack of compatibility with platforms other than Windows 10 and Xbox One is a challenge.
