Samsung launches 512GB flash chip for smartphones

Samsung has started producing[1] the world’s first 512GB embedded Universal Flash Storage chip. The chip can be used in smartphones and other mobile devices, with current top-end phones like the iPhone X featuring 256GB as their max storage model. Sequential read and write speeds reach 860MB/s and 255MB/s respectively, while the unit has a random read speed of 42,000 IOPS and a write speed of 40,000 IOPS.

“The new Samsung 512GB eUFS provides the best embedded storage solution for next-generation premium smartphones,” said Samsung.
