Internet speed debate

Families are being urged to attend a meeting tonight to discuss painfully slow broadband speeds in Howwood.

Paisley and Renfrewshire South MP Douglas Alexander has called the summit to discuss the poor service received in the village.

The Labour man will chair the discussion, with villagers encouraged to air their grievances to Scottish Government officers and bosses from telecoms giant BT.

Mr Alexander said: My campaign to improve broadband speeds in Howwood has seen a really unprecedented response from people in the village.

The hundreds of letters and comments I have received and the phenomenal response to my online petition shows how big an issue it is for people.

They are sick to the back teeth of slow internet access and I hope this willl be an opportunity to put their views directly to BT and the Scottish Government.

The meeting begins at 7.30pm, at Howwood Parish Church, Main Street.
